Acceleration therapies · San Francisco

Faster results, cutting edge protocols, expertly planned.

Protocols that help bone remodel and aligners seat properly, so each stage of treatment does its job. Used with Invisalign or braces, they can meaningfully shorten treatment in suitable cases, and make complex movements possible without surgery.

The process

Added where it can make a difference.

Acceleration is a tool, not a package. It is used when it will genuinely move a case forward.
  1. Assessment

At your consultation the doctors decide whether acceleration will help your particular case.

  2. The right protocol

An in-office procedure, a home device, or both, matched to the movements planned.

  3. Faster stages

Aligners changed more often, or braces adjusted less often, as bone responds.

  4. Retention

The same retention plan as any other case, so the result holds.

Why it matters

Speed is a by-product of biology done right.

Tooth movement is a bone-remodelling process. Encouraging that process, and making sure every aligner is fully seated, is what shortens treatment. Our doctors have used these protocols to close severe open bites without jaw surgery.
Non-surgical outcomesSevere open bites closed with aligners and acceleration
Extraction-free optionsCrowding resolved by moving teeth back rather than removing them

Options

Three protocols. One decision at your consultation.

Each works differently and suits different cases. Some patients use one; some combine an in-office procedure with a home device.

FAQ

Common questions

Does acceleration hurt?

MOPs are done under local anaesthetic, take minutes, and involve little discomfort afterwards with no recovery time. VPro and OrthoPulse are home devices and are not painful; many patients find OrthoPulse makes aligner changes more comfortable.

How much faster will my treatment be?

It depends on the case and the protocol. Acceleration can meaningfully shorten treatment for suitable patients, but the honest answer comes from your consultation, where the doctors will give you a range with and without it.

Is it right for every case?

No. Acceleration is recommended when it will change the plan: shorter treatment, avoiding extractions, or treating a complex bite without surgery. If it will not help your case, we will say so.

Does it work with braces as well as Invisalign?

MOPs work with both. VPro is designed for aligners. OrthoPulse can be used with either.
