What it is

A Hawley retainer has an acrylic plate that sits against the roof of the mouth and a wire that wraps the front teeth. The wire can be adjusted, letting your orthodontist fine-tune minor tooth positions after treatment. A bite plane can also be added to help correct deep bites by allowing the back teeth to erupt.
