What it is

OrthoPulse uses near-infrared light, or photobiomodulation, to stimulate cellular activity involved in bone remodeling around the teeth. It is designed to support orthodontic tooth movement and may also help reduce discomfort during treatment.

Using it

Use OrthoPulse at home for just 10 minutes a day. It can be used with Invisalign or braces and requires no procedure or recovery time.

Our research

At Bella Smile, Dr. Bella Shen Garnett studied OrthoPulse in 40 completed Invisalign cases, comparing 20 consecutive patients who used OrthoPulse with 20 who did not.

In the preliminary analysis, patients using OrthoPulse had:

  • 54% shorter average treatment time
  • 49% fewer refinements
  • 45% fewer finishing aligners
  • 23% fewer office visits
  • 15% finished with no refinements at all

The OrthoPulse group averaged 8.3 months of treatment compared with 18.1 months in the comparison group.

Why it matters

Faster treatment is only part of the goal. Predictability matters too. Fewer refinements and finishing aligners can mean treatment stays closer to the original plan, with fewer additional appointments and less time in treatment.

These are preliminary results from our ongoing clinical study, but they reflect what we have seen in everyday patient care: OrthoPulse can be a valuable tool for making Invisalign treatment more efficient and predictable.
